New Digitally-Enhanced Driving Licenses Launched in India to Improve Road Safety

India has recently launched a new and improved version of the driving license, which has been fully digitized and enhanced with advanced security features. The new licenses are aimed at improving road safety and combating the issue of fraudulent licenses.

The new licenses feature a QR code, which can be easily scanned by traffic police, and a microchip that stores personal and driving-related information of the holder. This will make it easier for the traffic police to verify the authenticity of the license and access the driver's details and driving history.

Furthermore, the new licenses are also expected to reduce the use of fake or duplicate licenses, as they are difficult to replicate due to the advanced security features. This will be a major step towards reducing the number of road accidents caused by unlicensed or incompetent drivers.

The government of India is making an effort to digitize all the driving licenses to make them more secure and tamper-proof, it also reduce the time and effort required for licenses renewals, replacements and other transactions.

The new licenses will be gradually rolled out across the country, and all existing licenses will eventually need to be renewed with the new, digitally-enhanced version. This move is a positive step towards improving road safety and ensuring that only qualified and licensed individuals are behind the wheel.
